Bridge builders for inclusive philanthropy

We are a trio of fundraisers: Jew, Christian and Muslim. As champions of inclusive philanthropy, we bridge faith and giving. We help our fundraising peers understand religious donors.

Invite us to speak. We bring kosher snacks, laugh often and excel at Q&A!

We are a trio of fundraisers: a Jew, a Christian and a Muslim. Ann fundraises for a synagogue. Lori has her doctorate in Christian giving. Irshad is a fundraiser by profession and an Imam by vocation.

We know our faith communities deeply and understand fundraising from many perspectives. We highlight our shared values and respect our differences.

We enjoy speaking and writing together. Even after several years of presenting together, we are always learning from each other and from our audiences. We excel at topics others might shy away from - not just religion, money and fundraising, but also death and dying, funerals and bequests. Anonymous giving, legacy giving - we are well-versed in how philanthropy works in each of our traditions.

Ann was recently on local television on Giving Tuesday. Check that out here

Irshad appeared in article in Maclean’s magazine which you can read here.

Speakers

Learn how to fundraise respectfully with religious donors. Also: religious donors give the most!

Our sessions feature quizzes, prizes and kosher snacks. Our Q&A is always lively as we address questions of etiquette, theology, politics, money and death!

We have spoken to fundraisers, gift planners, university staff and more. We are good friends who model our message of respect, inclusion and diversity.

We are kosher, gluten-free and halal respectively. We have overcome more scheduling conflicts with religious holidays than any trio of fundraising speakers we’re aware of!

Ann Rosenfield

We refer to Ann as the big sister in the group, not just because of her caring and forthright personality, but because Judaism is the oldest of our three faith traditions. Ann is Senior Development Officer at Temple Sinai in Toronto and has worked in various settings throughout her career. Ann frequently writes about fundraising and has appeared on various media. She is a longtime member of AFP Toronto and was previously editor of Hilborn Charity E-news.

Lori Guenther Reesor

Lori is the middle child of the trio, as Christianity is a younger faith than Judaism, but older than Islam. Lori completed her Doctorate researching Christian giving in Canada. She has written a book Growing a Generous Church: A Year in the Life of Peach Blossom Church and works with churches and charities from various denominations.

Lori works with Christians of many types and is an expert in Christian giving. She is Mennonite. As a fun game, Ann & Lori can distinguish between Orthodox Jews and Old Order Mennonites in black suits and hats in milliseconds.

Irshad Osman, M. Sc., CFRE

Irshad is the charming younger brother of the group, as Islam is the youngest of our three faiths. Irshad is an Imam by vocation and a fundraiser by profession. Irshad recently appeared in Maclean’s magazine, speaking about an interfaith response to Israel-Hamas war

Irshad was recently selected for an Interfaith fellowship and the is a past recipient of the AFP Fellowship in Inclusive Giving
